Biography
The National Council of Jewish Women, Denver Section (NCJW) was a women's philanthropic organization founded by Carrie Benjamin in October 1893 to serve the Denver, Colorado Jewish community. Most of the early members were members of Temple Emanuel in Denver and were dedicated to social causes. Education was an early priority of the Denver Section and classes were held to serve Eastern European Jewish immigrants in the West Colfax area of Denver. The Council established a settlement house in West Denver for Jewish boys, worked with disabled children and initiated the Children's Traveling Theatre. During World War II, the Council was involved in the resettlement of Jewish refugees in Denver.

Box contains two file folders (FF) from this series. These include FF13: a DVD of the 2011 performance of "The Wizard of Oz" and seven [7] cast photographs, some of which are undated and some from 1999 and 1982; FF14: 1968-2006 clippings about NCJW's traveling theater program.

Box contains one [1] wooden and felt puppet, one [1] black costume cape, one [1] orange pumpkin costume, all of which were used in NCJW's traveling theater productions.

Box contains costume articles from NCJW Denver section's traveling theater troupe. Items include one [1] clear plastic mask with painted facial features, two [2] black hats (one with glitter), and one [1] straw hat with yarn embellishment - likely used in NCJW productions of "The Wizard of Oz".
