Description

The University of Colorado School of Medicine opened at Boulder in 1883 as the University of Colorado Medical Department. Name changed in 1907 to University of Colorado School of Medicine. On Jan. 1, 1911, it assimilated the Denver and Gross College of Medicine. The third and fourth year classes only were now transferred to Denver, but in 1924 the school was united on the Denver campus. Became a division of the Medical Center when that body was created in 1947 and of the Health Sciences Center when the Medical Center changed its name in 1979.
