Biography

Norma Peterman was born in Denver, Colorado and died two days after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Her parents were Joseph and Sophie Miller Peterman and her aunt was Irene Miller Stein.

Abstract

A sleeveless white cotton infant's slip with two small buttons at top of each shoulder. The slip has scalloped edging with white thread at lower edge hem and around arm and neck holes. The slip was made for a two to three-year old. Originally worn by Norma Peterman.

Abstract A hand carved, ivory fan held together at the base with a copper D-shaped ring that has two mother-of-pearl circular studs at the outer edge of each side. Each of the interior fan supports are carved on one side. The fan fabric is white silk organza with white appliquéd lace on the top side of fabric. Abstract Irene Miller (Mrs. Azriel) Stein was a professional artist well into her 90s. She was the daughter of Anna and Robert Lazar Miller, both pioneers of Denver's Jewish community. In 1921 she married Azriel Stein, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvaina native and they had a son Stanley.
