Abstract

Discusses father coming from Carlsbad, Czech Republic (now), originally came to Massachusetts but wanted to come further west to mine and ended up in Denver in 1892 selling matches. Arthur born in Denver in 1904, talks about his mother’s family as well (parents met at his aunt’s Kosher restaurant), growing up in the Jewish Community, life during WWI, flu epidemic of 1918, antisemitism, life and business in Brush, CO.

Series 1 consists of the recorded oral histories of individuals and, occasionally, groups of individuals representing Jewish organizations. Many of the interviewees are descendants of early Colorado Jewish pioneers or were Jewish newcomers to the state in the beginning of the 20th century. The interviews document Jewish history in Colorado in the 20th century.
