Ballet superstar Mikhail Baryshnikov stars in the American Ballet Theatre production of ''The Nutcracker,'' which returns to television as a special holiday encore Wednesday, December 24, 8:30-10:00 p.m., on the CBS Television Network, under the sole sponsorship of IBM. In the four years since IBM first presented ''The Nutcracker,'' Baryshnikov has won an Academy Award nomination for his first starring role in a motion picture (''The Turning Point''); he also starred in the highest-rated dance special in television history, the Emmy Award-winning ''IBM Presents Baryshnikov on Broadway.'' The dancer recently began a new career as an entrepreneur by assuming the post of Artistic Director of American Ballet Theatre.
