Abstract Bernard Zion Lande, the grandson of early Denver Jewish pioneer Zion Wolf Karsh, was born in Denver, Colorado, on July 11, 1927. Lande grew up on Denver's west side and attended the Hebrew Educational Alliance. While still in his teens, he helped to found the Jewish Youth Council, and in 1947 he attended the Brandeis Camp in California, where he gained his first exposure to the philosophies of the Jewish Reconstructionist movement. Abstract Alexander Kagan was born in Paris, France in 1906 to Russian parents. At the age of 14, Alexander began work as a fabric and jewelry designer. He came to the United States in 1922 with his mother Chana (Anna) and his brother Haim Persah (Paul). He worked as a fabric designer in New York and in 1930 he became a US citizen. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Pueblo, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1954 and died in the Denver area in 1994....
