Abstract

The first Jewish families arrived in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1878 and Congregation Monefiore was formed in 1884. J. E. Rosenwald Lodge, No. 545, I.O.B.B was organized in 1902, the second B'nai B'rith Chapter in New Mexico. The collection contains a stamp press with the corporate seal, two ledgers with Minutes (1902-1970), and two ledgers with financial information, including dues payments by members (1902-1980).

Phi Sigma Delta Fraternity was formed in 1909 at Columbia University and operated until in 1969-70, Phi Sigma Delta and Phi Epsilon Pi merged into Zeta Beta Tau. Phi Sigma Delta (Theta chapter) fraternity was organized at University of Colorado in 1919. Collection contains photographs, scrapbooks, publications, and administrative papers from Phi Sigma Delta, Theta 1918 through 1981.

Sidney Grazi was born in 1914, the oldest of four children born of immigrant parents (Aleppo, Syria; and Russia). He was a proficient musician, private pilot, and general contractor of homes and commercial properties in Denver through the Titan Construction Company. Collection contains the charter for the Order Sons of Zion Denver Chapter Subordinate Camp No. 32 established on March 10, 1911. The Order Sons of Zion was a Jewish Fraternal Organization based in New York City. The charter is a print done in back ink and blue. Image of an Angel over crowded streets and buildings pointing over an ocean toward Jerusalem and the Citadel of David, with a village and farmers below.

Abstract Tau Epsilon Phi was founded in 1910 at Columbia University in response to Jewish men not being allowed in other similar organizations. The fraternity began and exclusively Jewish but began accepting non-Jewish in the 1950s, mostly Catholics.
