Abstract Max P. Cowan (1907-1978) was born in in Poland and brought to Denver by his parents when he was one year old. Cowan attended the University of Denver and the Colorado School of Mines. After moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, Cowan married Sara Lee Guss in 1931. Cowan was a cattleman, and a charter member of the National Cattleman Association.
