Bernard Hurwitz, 1887-1981
Bernard Hurwitz emigrated to Denver from Poland in 1882, his passage paid by the Rothschild family. He was a scholar and teacher, sold Manischewitz matzos for Pesach, and served as president of the Mizrachi Society. He helped found Chevro Mishno for the study of the Scriptures.

Box 2: Paintings, c. 1960 - 1979
This box contains four (4) paintings by Fred Veston. They are titled, "The Burning of Cracow [sic]"; "The Blessing of the Moon"; "Nine Jewish Faces"; and, "Two Musicians-Two Dancers." Three (3) of the paintings are oil on canvas (Burning of Cracow, Blessing of the Moon, and Two Musicians-Two Dancers). The fourth painting, Nine Jewish Faces, is a black ink watercolor.

Cook Family, 2003 June 4-6
Harry "Herschl" Cook (1865-1911) and Ida "Hinda" Cook (1868-1934) left their shtetl Kamin Koshirsky in Poland for the United States in 1892. The couple and their four children settled in Denver on the advice of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, and joine the West Colfax community. The family opened a bathouse called Cook's Baths. The Cook Family Reunion was held July 4-6, 2003, in Denver, Colorado.
Correspondence, 1920 April-September
The collection consists of original letters between Dr. Charles Spivak and his family and colleagues during Dr. Spivak's travels to Poland via France in the 1920s. Dr. Spivak was appointed a member of the Joint Distribution Committee's relief unit to study health and sanitation in Europe after World War I.
