Biography

B'nai B'rith is the oldest and largest of the national Jewish service organizations in the United States. The Charter for the Denver Chapter states that the (Independent Order of B’nai B’rith Charter for a Lodge to be known by the name, style and title of Denver Lodge No. 171 to hold its sessions in the city of Denver, Col. seventh day of April, 1872 (5632)). Through a national effort, the organization raised enough money to open National Jewish Hospital for Consumptives in 1899.

Abstract The Independent Order of B'nai B'rith Lodge 171, Denver, Colorado, was a pivotal Jewish philanthropic and social service organization in Denver from 1872 through today. This fraternal organization received a charter from the National Order of B'nai B'rith on April 7, 1872. David Kline was the first president and Louis Anfenger was the first secretary. Charles M.
