Pencol Drug Store

 Organization

Biography

Founded by Azriel Stein, the pharmacy was named for its location at Colfax Avenue and Pennsylvania Street. Pencol was a prominent Denver pharmacy for decades. In addition to dispensing prescriptions and selling over-the-counter medications, Pencol Drug featured a popular soda and ice cream fountain and a gift section.

Years later, what is now Pencol Compounding Pharmacy is now located on Colorado Boulevard, between Louisiana Avenue and Florida Avenue. The pharmacy was owned by Marshall Tobin until 2014 when he sold the pharmacy to Tony Jones, who also owned Cornell Pharmacy.
