Biography

The Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society (RMJHS) was established in 1976 to promote and sponsor historical activity related to the Jewish experience in the Rocky Mountain region. The Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado partners with the RMJHS and Ira M. Beck and Perle Hayutin Beck Memorial Archives of Rocky Mountain Jewish History to publicize and preserve the Jewish history of the Rocky Mountain region. The first director was Belle Marcus and Dr. Jeanne E. Abrams became the director in 1982. The Beck Archives became a fully integrated part of University of Denver Penrose Library (now University Libraries) Special Collections and Archives in 1995.

The library and partners, including the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society (RMJHS), contributed information and digitized images on different Denver neighborhoods. Abstract A group of Jewsish friends, who had grown up on Denver's Jewish West Side neighborhood, organized a pinic. The Denver West Side Reunion Picnic was held on July 15, 1979. High school classes of 1955 through 1958 were invited. Roberta Greengard, chair of the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society, prepared questionnaires.
