University of Denver. 2121 East Asbury Avenue, Denver, Colordao 80208. Date built: October 26, 1978. Gross square feet: 46,456. The Shwayder Art Building opened in 1978 and dedicated on May 15, 1979. It is named for the Jesse and Nellie Shwayder Foundation, which donated $1.7 million in stock toward the building project.
The Shwayder Art Building contains the Victoria H. Myhren Gallery, the principal exhibition venue of the School of Art and Art History.

University of Denver Chancellor Maurice B. Mitchell and King Shwayder pose with a plaque at the dedication ceremony for the Shwayder Art Building in Denver, Colorado. Jesse and Nellie Shwayder Inc., a family foundation, donated $1.7 million toward the construction, the building's architect was Slater-Paull and Associates, and the firm Gerald H. Phipps Inc. was awarded the rights to construct the building.
