Biography
Over the years, the Department of English has been part of the College of Liberal Arts, the Division of Arts and Humanities, and the Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Effective Fall Quarter 2018, it is a part of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Division of Arts and Humanities at the University of Denver.
In 1986, the English Department at the University of Denver began offering a Theater major as the then-School of Theater at the University had previously dissolved between 1984-85.

Box 14: Accreditation Materials, 1989-1990
This box contains materials from the University of Denver's Department of English that were used for NCA (North Central Association of Colleges and Schools now the HLC or Higher Learning Commission) Accreditation in 1989-1990. The materials include a self study, a summary of mission and goals, mailed publications, reports on the academic program, and attachments such as lists of courses, faculty information, and correspondence.
Deatt Hudson Papers
Deatt Hudson (1931-1988) was a Professor of English at Colorado Women's College, Denver, Colorado, who earned her B.A. from the University of Denver and an M.A. from Yale University. She earned a second M.A. from Middlebury College. Hudson wrote poetry and short stories. The Deatt Hudson Papers include correspondence, diaries, biographical materials, a baby book, class notes, a yearbook, notebooks, scrapbooks, and photographs.
