Biography

Over the years, the Department of English has been part of the College of Liberal Arts, the Division of Arts and Humanities, and the Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Effective Fall Quarter 2018, it is a part of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Division of Arts and Humanities at the University of Denver.

In 1986, the English Department at the University of Denver began offering a Theater major as the then-School of Theater at the University had previously dissolved between 1984-85.

Abstract Ida Kruse McFarlane (1873-1940) was a patron and advocate of arts, literature, music, and theater. Ida Kruse McFarlane was a prominent professor and head of the English Department at the University of Denver until her death in 1940.
