Vallecitos, New Mexico. Two brothers are envious of their younger brother, thus, when the opportunity presents itself, they murder him in the forest and bury his body. Although they return home and tell their father that their brother is lost in the forest, an Indian shows up with a singing flower, which tells of the evil deed of the olders brothers. Quality:Fair

Abstract

Albuquerque, New Mexico. Three sons leave home. All meet the same old man who asks them (individually) to get him the topmost flower on a tree. Two older brothers get a flower, but not what the man wanted. The youngest brother gets the topmost flower and is rewarded. The two older brother kill and bury him. They put a twig on his tomb. The twig blooms and sings, and eventually the brothers' crime is discovered. Quality:Fair
