Mexican Revolution, in which all of her brothers were killed; came to the United States; dedicated much of her life to religious work, including caring for orphans and the sick; Lydia Patterson Institute; ethnic relations; her work experience in Texas, Arizona, and California.

Description of living at 7616 Bradburn Blvd. -- Rigg House -- England, Harvey & Erma. The historic home c. 1890 was given to Earle Stanley DeSpain and his bride Gertrude Rigg DeSpain. The home where the Awalt's presently live was on the property when the Rigg's purchased the property. Earle DeSpain was the son of Pleasanr DeSpain Jr. born in Harris, Colorado. They have been keepers of the historic home with tales of living there.
