Biography
Ball Dynamics International was established in 1991 by Joanne Posner-Mayer to manage her creation of fitballs. Joanne Posner-Mayer discovered the use of balls in physical therapy when she worked in Switzerland and brought the idea to the United States. Fitball was a trade name for Ball Dynamics International and was incorporated as Fitball USA in 2001. Ball Dynamics was disolved in 2019. The name of Fitball USA was changed to FI, Inc in 2007.

Abstract
Joanne Posner-Mayer, a Denver native, started Ball Dynamics International in 1991 and introduced the fitness community to Fitball®. Her interest in physical therapy grew from her childhood dancing with what now is the Colorado Ballet. Raised in east Denver, Joanne Posner-Mayer attended George Washington High School and received a degree in physical therapy from CU.
