Abstract Jesse H. Newlon (1882-1941) served as Superintendent of the Denver Public Schools from 1920 to 1927. During his tenure, Denver became nationally known for its innovations in public education. Dr. Lewis Hill Chernoff was an accomplished violinist who played with the Denver Symphony and Carvallo's Symphony. He was also a chemist and worked for the Food and Drug Administration in Denver.
