Denver Symphony Orchestra
Biography
The Denver Symphony Orchestra became an all professional orchestra in 1945. Saul Caston came from the PHiladelphia to be the conductor and music director. The same year, the Denver Symphony Guild was established. Bess Laderman, wife of Rabbi Manual Laderman, was a long-time member of the Guild and president in 1969. The Colorado Symphony was established in 1989 as successor to the Denver Symphony Orchestra. The Denver Symphony Association filed for bankruptcy in May 1989 and cancelled the rest of the season. Earlier name was Civic Symphony Orchestra (Denver, Colo.).

Lewis Chernoff Papers
Dr. Lewis Hill Chernoff was an accomplished violinist who played with the Denver Symphony and Carvallo's Symphony. He was also a chemist and worked for the Food and Drug Administration in Denver. Collection contains miscellaneous papers, diplomas and certificates largely relating to Lewis Chernoff and some to Sophie Chernoff.
Marvin Feinsmith, 1979
Marvin Feinsmith is a Denver composer and bassoonist who has worked with a number of notable orchestras, including the Denver Symphony Orchestra. Feinsmith, originally from New York City, graduated Yeshiva Rabbi Israel Salanter of the Bronx, and went on to earn a Masters Degree from the Julliard and Manhattan Schools of Music.
