Biography

Dr. Robert C. Shattuck (1904-1996), a physician and surgeon, was born in the University Park area of Denver, Colorado, and lived in the neighborhood until 1934. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 5, Denver, Colorado. Shattuck attended University Park Elementary School and South High School, and graduated from the University of Denver. He attended medical school in Colorado and Pennsylvania, and opened a medical practice in Colorado. Shattuck's grandfather, Joseph Shattuck, was the first dean of the University of Denver. Shattuck's uncle, Herbert Alonzo Howe, was a professor of astronomy and a dean at the University of Denver who was instrumental in having the Chamberlin Observatory built. Shattuck was an honorary trustee at the University of Denver, and he wrote a book about University Park that was published by the University Park Methodist Church. He married Dr. Alberta Iliff in 1959.
