Biography

Owen B. Trout, Jr. was born in 1919, when his parents were residents of the University Park area of Denver, Colorado and he grew up in the neighborhood. He attended the Colorado Military School and South High School. After living in Minnesota for a short time, he returned to live in University Park. He worked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. His father, Owen B. Trout, was a math professor and a registrar at the University of Denver.

Abstract

Owen Trout, Jr. recounts details about the University Park area of Denver, Colorado, including the local schools, the influence of the University of Denver on the neighborhood, and how the construction of I-25 (Denver's North-South Interstate Highway) affected the neighborhood. Trout also discusses the prospect of the construction of a light rail line as a means of providing alternate transportation from the neighborhood to other parts of Denver, Colorado.
