Biography

Miriam Harris Goldberg (1916-2017) was born May 18, 1916, in Chicago to Harry and Minnie Harris. Harry Harris was the postmaster in Cripple Creek, Colorado in the 1890s. The couple later moved to Denver where Harry Harris operated a coal company. Miriam graduated from East High school in Denver. On Feb. 12, 1936, Miriam Harris married Max Goldberg in Denver at the BMH Synagouge. Max Goldberg purchased the Intermountain Jewish News in 1943. He also wrote a weekly column, "Side Street," for The Denver Post in the 1950s and 1960s. Max Goldberg died in 1972 and Miriam Goldberg succeeded her late husband at the helm of the IJN. Miriam Goldberg died Sunday, January 8th in 2017 in Denver at the age of 100 and is interred in Rose Hill Cemetery.
