Biography

David Kline, a Jewish merchan and philanthropist, was born in Bohemia in 1836 and landed in New Orleans in 1855. He and his wife came to Central City by covered wagon in 1860 from Leavenworth, Kansas and moved to Denver in 1865. He served as the first president of Denver's B'naiohemia in 1836 B'nith Lodge No. 171. He and Charles Schayer had also been leading members of the Hebrew Burial Society, which evolved into the Hebrew Benevolent Society. He died in Denver in 1911.
