Ballet dancer and chroeographer; born October 13, 1938 in Missoula, Montana – died April 23, 2007 in San Francisco, California; a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre and the San Francisco Ballet; co-artistic director for the San Francisco Ballet from 1973 through 1985; choreographed for the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Washington Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Milwaukee Ballet, among others
