Biography

Kate Fried was born in Ungvar, Hungary in 1863 and died in Denver, Colorado on June 27, 1954. She and her husband Bela Fried operated the Fried's Frame Factory until his death in 1900. Kate Fried and her brother-in-law Eugene Fried, opened the Fried's Art and Gift Shop in 1903. (The information is from JewishGen Burial Records and a newspaper article dated October 23, 1983.)

Abstract

For over 85 years, the Fried family in Denver, Colorado owned the Fried's Art & Gift Shop. It was operated by Bela and Kate Fried's daughters Mary Fried, Bertha Fried Kleiner, and Sally Fried. This collection contains the correspondence, legal documents, personal materials of the Fried family, Fried's Art & Gift Shop records, and an embroidered woman's pump that belonged to Sally Fried.
