Biography

George D. Bercu was born in Romania on September 21, 1886 and died in California on April 8, 1947. He married Olive Mistachkin in September 1916 after the families arranged the marriage. Olive was in the theatre before her marriage. In Douglas, Wyoming George Bercu started the Chicago Hide, Fur, and Wool Company and also was President of the Reliance Oil Company.

Abstract

The file contains three letters in English and two in English. Two of the Yiddish letters are on Don Bercu and Sons and one letter is on letterhead for M. L. Friedmann, Grossrabiner from Romania. On the back of the Friedmann letter is hand-written in English "Children: You can have breakfast downstairs and I will be back about 8 or 8:30 for you, Daddy." Two letters are written from George Bercu to Olive Bercu in 1916.

Abstract

Articles of Incorporation for the Chicago Hide, Fur, and Wool House and a Stockholder'Special Meeting for the Chicago Furniture and Supply Company. Both companies were in Douglas, Wyoming, The officers and stockholders of the Chicago Hide company were George D. Bercu, Louis Bercu, Kathy Anthens, C.D. Zimmerman and S. D. Weller. The stockholders of the furniture company were George D. Bercu, I. S. Mistachkin and H. Mistachkin. The Mistachkins were brothers-in-law of George Bercu.
