Biography

CMSgt. Calvin "Cal" Golden was known as the "Golden Boy" of square dancing callers. Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Cal served in the US Army Air Corps (09/05/1945-03/15/1947) until his transfer on 03/15/1947 to the Air Force. It was during his time in Colorado Springs when he began square dancing (1947) and calling (1948). He knew both Lloyd Shaw and Bob Osgood. Cal recorded over 125 records with Old Timer, Hoedown, Folkcraft, and Gold Star Records. The last of which he was also the owner and producer. During he tenure with the Air Force, Cal called in Englad, Germany, and other countries throughout Europe.
