Biography

Owned a dry goods store on Union Avenue in Pueblo. The dry goods store was started by his father Mendel Emanuel Ambrus. Later the name Ambrus was anglicized to Ambrose. Aubrey Ambrose married Harriett Hausman, the granddaughter of Henry and Rose Roth.

Abstract

The image shows Emanuel Epstein Ambrus and his grown children. Emanuel Ambrus began using Epstein when he came to the United States. Before she moved to Pueblo, his mother had stayed with a daughter in Alabama whose married name was Epstein. Emanuel Ambrus was known as "Mr. Eppy" or "Dad Eppy." From left to right are Aubrey Ambrose, Marion Ambrose Goodman, Emanuel "Dad Eppy" Epstein Ambrus, Malka "Millie" Ambrose Grossman, Albert Ambrose, and Jacob (Jay) Ambrose.

Abstract

Aubrey Ambrose (1909-1996) was the owner of the Army Surplus Store in Pueblo, Colorado (his father founded the store in 1919). Following the death of his long-term business partner Roy Brown, Ambrose went into semi-retirement and sold the store to Edward Cervantes.
