Abstract

White cotton challah cover with crocheted edges. Embroidered in the middle of the rectagular cloth is "DENVER" in gold thread with matching decorative elements below and above in dark red thread. Inside the embroidered outline of "Denver" is painted yellow and within the ebroidered edges of the design in painted red. Reversed side is solid white.

Kiddush Cup, 1900s

Abstract

Silver kiddush cup used for wine for the shabbath meals. Bowl of the cup is a heaxagon at the rim with Hebrew script around the outside of the bowl with an acanthus leaf and berry motif below. The base of the cup is round and etched on the bottom reads "remember the holy day of rest."

Shield for Sabbath Candles, 17th-18th century

Abstract

Oval shaped bronze shield with wreath around outer edge and crown on top. In the center of the oval has the blessing for the Shabbath candles on it. Sheild would have attached to a seven branch menorah. Some patina on shield and note with translation taped to back.

Tefillin Bag, 1900s

Abstract

Deep blue velvet rectangular tifillin bag with two corded loops at top in black with bits of gold and lined with blue cotton fabric. Front of the bag is embroidered with gold thread with the Star of David over two crossed branches with gold and red berries forming a "U" shape. Embroidered over the star are the initials "M.H." and hebrew letters are embroidered on the bag.

Black satin yarmukle constructed of four triangular pieces sewn together with piping around the outer edge. Stamped inside with gold ink "GROMAN MORTUARIES 830 W. WASHINGTON BLVD. RI 8-2201". The mortuary is located in Los Angeles, California.
