Biography

Prominant oil and gas man, Sheldon Baren, worked on the Manhattan Atomic Bomb Project in Los Alamos, New Mexico. His father Adolph Baren founded Okmar oil company in Marietta, Georgia in the 1920s. Sheldon moved to Denver in the 1960s and founded the Berenergy Company in 1978. The company focused on oil development and production in eastern Colorado. He was a major philanthropist in Jewish education. He was born and raised in Marietta, Ohio and died in Denver in 1996.
