 Person

Biography

Started a dry goods store in 1909 in Pueblo, which he later passed onto his son Aubrey Ambrose. In Russia his last name was Ambrus, but he began using Epstein in America. Epstein was the married name of his sister who settled in Alabama and he was known as "Mr. Eppy" or "Dad Eppy." He also operated the Eppy Wine bottling company which he started in the basement of his store after Prohibition. His sons anglicized the original name to Ambrose.
