Biography
Ernest Karl Loeb (Löb) (July 10, 1924 - September 12, 1972) was born in Darmstadt, Germany. He is the youngest son of Emil Loeb and Bella Levi Loeb. He escaped Nazi Germany in late 1939 with his family, arriving first in Central America and then the U.S. in early 1940. He and his parents settled in Cleveland with his brother, Frank, who had immigrated a year before. Ernest joined the U.S. Army and went back over to Germany to fight in WWII, where he was involved in the Nuremburg Trials. He was there from January 24, 1944 - Jan 31, 1946. Ernest received the Bronze Star for heroism in WWII on May 21, 1951. He married Dorothy Katz on August 22, 1948. The couple moved to Denver in 1965/1966 when Ernest was transferred by his employer. He went on to work as sales manager for Samsonite Corp, and was a member of Columbine Lodge 147, Rocky Mountain Consistory 1, and El Jebel Shrine. The couple had two sons, Laurence (born July 23, 1950), and Ronald (born August 10, 1953). He died in a Philadelphia hospital on September 12, 1972 after a short illness, and was buried in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ernest, Dorothy, Ron, Larry, and his wife Gloria are pictured, as well as Larry and Gloria's daughters Elizabeth and Jaemi, and other unidentified family members.

Scrapbook, 1929 - 1944
This scrapbook contains family photos of the Loeb Family starting around 1929 and ending around 1944. The scrapbook itself is covered with a multicolored striped fabric and bound with a decorative fabric cord. The pages are black, and there are pages of spiderweb patterned tissue paper between each page. Many pictures are loose in the book. The front of the book has pictures of Ernest Loeb as a child, and later pages have pictures of Ernest as a soldier in WWII.
Small Scrapbook, circa 1921-circa 1932
This small scrapbook has a cover made out of multi-colored plaid fabric, and is bound with decorative cord. The pages are brown cardstock. The pictures in the scrapbook show Ernest and Frank Loeb as children. There are several family pictures, as well as a group photo of children in costumes. The pictures are from around 1921, when Frank was born, and 1932, when Ernest would have been eight years old.
