Howard, Deborah
Biography
Deborah Howard is an Associate Professor and Head of Painting Program at the University of Denver. She has been teaching at the University of Denver since 1987. She holds and BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in drawing and printmaking and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in painting and printmaking.

Multi-piece artwork consisting of an encaustic painting on canvas, pair of shoes and wood shelf for shoes, and Painted plaster cast of a portion of a suitcase. Canvas has floral patterned wallpaper with large red flowers, covered with wax. Canvas is surrounded by ash wood frame. Wax makes surface 3-dimensional.

Encaustic painting on canvas in reds, gold, and blues surrounded by an ash wood frame. Images of hands reaching down from top of canvas toward a wax cast of a chain lock on a door. Wax makes surface 3-dimensional. Multiple lines of Hebrew script carved into the waxed surface at bottom.
