Biography

Dorothy Anne (Katz) Loeb (14 October 1925 - 12 December 1998) was born in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Louis Katz (d. October 10, 1931) and Fannie Solomon Katz (September 9, 1892 - April 19, 1981). Her parents immigrated to the U.S. in 1909 from Hungary/Austria due to rising anti-Semitism. Her family had been farmers, but in the U.S. they became restaurant owners. She married Ernest Loeb on August 22, 1948. She moved to Denver in 1965 with her family when Ernest's job transferred him. Together they had two sons, Laurence and Ronald. She was a teacher, and taught for 22 years. She was an avid traveler, active member of Temple Emanuel Sisterhood and a state delegate for the demoncratic party. Dorothy died December 12, 1998 in Denver.

Collection contains family documents and material objects related to the Loeb Family. Many of these items relate directly to the Holocaust and WWII. Important items include German passports and IDs, documents relating firsthand accounts of WWII and the Holocaust, photographs from before, during, and after the war, including photographs of Ernest Loeb as a US soldier in Germany, Ernest Loeb's Bronze Star Medal, scrapbooks, early German school report cards, and Jewish books of scripture.
