Biography

Miriam Kastenberg was born in Slupianove, Poland. She married another survior, BerylMiklin in September 1946, whom she'd met in Germany at a displaced persons camp. Immigrated to Denver in 1949 and is buried at Mt. Nebo Memorial Park in Aurora, CO.

Abstract

Interview covers life experiences from before WWII in Poland and through her entire experience in the Holocaust. Miriam and her two sisters were the only surviving members of their family. After the war they tried to go home, stopping at a town 30km away and sensing the hostility toward them they left. Later the same evening there was a pogrom where 60 young Jewish survivors were murdered. They were too afraid to go home after that and left for Czech.

Abstract

Sharon Berkowitz took photographs of Holocaust survivors in Denver and created a photographic exhibit for the City and County of Denver. The exhibit was entitled "Show me, I remember: Denver and the Holocaust." The collection contains exhibition panels, photographs, negatives and documents relating to the photographic exhibit
