Biography

Sarah Edelman Lang was born in Hungary and immigrated to the U.S. in 1890 with her widowed mother. Several older sisters had already immigrated. Her and her mother lived on the East side of New York. One of her older sisters, Mrs. Cecile Goodman, had moved to Denver and established a kosher restaurant in the downtown area. Once Mrs. Goodman met Alfred Lang, an eligible Jewish bachelor, she sent for Sarah and her mother to move to Denver.

Sarah and Afred were married on February 25, 1900. She bought her wedding dress and veil at the Daniels and Fisher store. Together, the two had eight (8) children, 4 boys and 4 girls. They joined the BMH synagogue before Rabbi Charles Kauvar was its leader. She died on September 15, 1965 at 88 years old.
