Biography

Chester (Chet) Alan Leiser (June 1, 1918 - April 13, 2009) was born in Pueblo, CO to Joseph and Lena Leiser. He was the youngest of seven children. In 1940 he enlised in the Army Engineering Corps and worked on the ALCAN highway. He was accepted into officer's training school, attended Harvard University, and became a specialist in soils engineering. As an officer, he commanded African American troops and was sent to the South Pacific to build airfields. He was discharged with the rank of Major in 1946. He moved to Denver and started Leiser Construction Co., which specialized in custom commercial buildings in metropolitan Denver and Colorado Springs. In 1954, he married Dore Kaplan. He served on the boards of Beth Joseph, ADL, and Israel Bonds. He was survived by his wife; children: Dr. Jeffrey Leiser and Sharon Leiser; and grandchildren: Abraham, Tzirel, and Margalit.
