Biography

Philip Soloway (born Feifal Solavcjtschik in Poland-Russia on March 8, 1887) arrived in the US on July 9, 1912, at 17 on the ship Lapland. He entered through Ellis Island and lived the majority of his life in the Bronx. He married Bessie Hilda Sider and they had three children: Martin, Daniel, and Muriel. He became a US citizen on January 19, 1937, at the age of 39. He was an accomplished tailor. Mr. Soloway moved with his wife to Denver, Colorado in approximately 1967 to be closer to their children.

Abstract

Three hand tailored suits each with a button up suit jacket and an A-line midi length skirt. They were hand tailored by Philip Soloway as samples to use when selling his patterns to fashion houses. Suits were worn by Philip's daughter Muriel (Soloway) Arck.
