Herskovitz, Emanuel
Biography
Emanuel Herskowitz was born in Ungar, Hungary in 1870. He worked in New York as a baker before coming to Denver in 1889. He helped organize the first Denver Baker's Union and in 1896 he started the Eastern Bakery. From 1902 to 1905, Jacob Boscowitz worked at the Eastern Bakery for Herskovits before starting the Star Bakery. The 1912 flood wiped out the Eastern Bakery and in 1915 Emanuel Herskovitz began working at the Star Bakery.

Emanuel Herskovitz, 1977
Born in 1870 in Hungary, and trained as a baker, Herskovitz moved to Denver in 1889, married Fanny Freishman (governess to the daughters of Baby Doe Tabor), founded Eastern Bakery, worked for Star Bread Company, helped organize the first bakers union, and opened Uncle Sam's Grill, a tavern. He died in 1977.
