Maurice Rose was born in 1899 in Middletown, CT to Rabbi Samuel and Katy Rose. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1902 when Maurice was three. After graduation from highschool, Maurice Rose enlisted in the United States army when he was 15 and fought under General Pershing. He stayed in the army and attended various military schools. The Intermountain Jewish News (IJN) is a weekly newspaper serving the Denver-Boulder communities and the greater Rocky Mountain Jewish community (Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, and Montana). The newspaper was founded in 1913 and had a series of editors before being taken over by Robert Gamzey and Max Goldberg in 1943.
