Abstract
In 1946, Rabbi Herbert Friedman worked with the Allied Jewish Council and the United Jewish Appeal in a campaign to father relief funds for displaced Jews in central and eastern Europe. Friedman traveled to the region in July 1946, and found a mass exodus of Jews headed towards the U.S.-controlled portion of Germany to escape the horrible conditions in Poland.
