Biography

Royce Delmar Forsyth (1927-2007) was born in Denver, Colo., and was raised just outside the boundaries of the University Park area of Denver. He moved into University Park proper in 1976. He attended the Asbury School, Grant Middle School, South High School and the University of Denver, receiving both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Denver. Forsyth worked for the Denver Public Schools for 34 years, serving as an administrator and as a teacher of government and history. He was a member of the Colorado State Board of Education and the Denver Federation of Teachers. Forsyth helped found the Balarat Outdoor Education Center that provides instruction to Denver Public School students in environmental studies, Western history, and outdoor leadership skills. He was also active in politics, serving as the president of the Colorado American Civil Liberties Union.
