W. Gordon Johnston was a law professor at Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver for 26 years and the dean of Sturm College of Law for over ten years from 1948-1958 until his death.

Received the Distinguished Service Award of Omicron Delta Kappa, national leadership fraternity (1957).

Dies from fatal heart attack on April 25, 1958 at 54 years old.
