Abstract

Contains news Bulletin on Soviet Jewry": newspaper articles regarding the Action Committee in Soviet Jewry. Union of Councils for Soviet Jews created massive lists of Refuseniks and political prisoners in the Soviet Union (Prisoners of Conscience)." The Union set up action committees in cities across the U.S. and began the "Adopt a Prisoner" program.

Abstract

Babi Yar Park in Denver, Colorado was dedicated on October 2, 1983 to memorialize the September 1941 massacre of the Jews that remained in the Ukrainian city of Kiev, at a ravine called Babi Yar. The Babi Yar Park Foundation was formed under the leadership of Helen Ginsburg. Collection contains minutes, administrative papers, correspondence, reports, scrapbooks, news clippings, photos, public relations materials and architectural drawings from the Babi Yar Park between 1969-2015.

Collection contains books and videos, related to Lillian Hoffman from 1960 through 2014. Lillian Hoffman was a founding and active member of the Colorado Commitee of Concern for Soviet Jewry. She began public Jewish protests in Denver and was the first to speak to a Soviet Jewish prisoner.

Most of the records consist of letters, educational materials, bulletins and published newspaper accounts of activities by world-wide, national and local groups on behalf of Soviet Jews. Rhoda Friedman collected most of this material. The Records also have scrapbooks about Lillian Hoffman.
