Abstract

Dr. Jeanne Abrams of the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society of the Center for Judaic Studies collected materials of the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society separate from the JCRS Records. Collection contains a draft of "The Origins of Denver's JCRS" by Dr. Charles Spivak, newspaper articles, issues of patients' magazine Hatikvah, contribution forms, "Thirty Years of Saving Lives" history of JCRS sanitorium, JCRS programs and pamphlets and, books related JCRS from 1900 through 1982.

Abstract The Miller family came from Lithuania in 1890s. Robert Lazar Miller was one of the founders of the Denver stockyards and became the chief buyer for the K and B Meat Packing Company. The Averch family arrived in Denver from Eastern Europe in the early 1900s and later founded the Capitol Meat Packing Company in 1925. In 2019, The Legacy of Healing exhibit was installed at the Colorado History museum. Professor Jeanne Abrams, Curator of the Beck Archives at DU University Libraries, and her staff and History Colorado staff created and installed the exhibit.
