Union soldier in the Civil War. Second son of Levi Tomlinson Chatfield, 1813-1848 and Lovina Mastick Chatfield, approximately 1809-1858; siblings: Isaac Willard "I.W." Chatfield, 1836-1924, Charles Henry Chatfield, 1840-1864, Ellen Charlotte Chatfield, 1846-1928.
