He served in B'nai B'rith as President of Denver Lodge No. 171 in 1944. During his presidency, the Lodge roster topped 2,000. Jacobs graduated from East Denver High School in 1925, and then enrolled in the University of Colorado at Boulder with the intent to enter the University of Michigan's law program soon after, but he fell in love with the school and the Rocky Mountains, and decided to stay for his law degree. He graduated in 1930 with a law degree and worked for Carl Cline, a Denver lawyer. Since passing the Colorado Bar exam on September 22, 1930, he was active in law until his death. He was married to Mary Nathenson on April 7, 1935. Together, they have a son, Bob Jacobs, and a daughter, Lucille Sharron Jacobs.
