Biography
Student-athlete: Skiing, 1943-1946. Barbara Kidder was a pioneer for the University of Denver's ski program. During a period of uncertainty around the world, Kidder's focus was to bring a national title to the DU athletic program. After three steady years honing her skills, Kidder came alive in the 1946 national championships. In that year, Kidder became the first DU skier, male or female, to win a National Collegiate Championship. The importance of Kidder's accomplishments on the ski slopes went a long way to further women's athletics, and her accomplishments were recognized nationally with her induction into the National Ski Hall of Fame. The state of Colorado also recognized Kidder's influence, naming her to the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame. Kidder is one of nine Pioneer alumni to be inducted into the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame.
