Maurice B. Mitchell b. 09 Feb 1915 in New York City; d. 30 Nov 1996 in Santa Barbara, Calif. Chancellor of the University of Denver from 1967 to 1978.

University of Denver (DU) protesters on stage with John Wesley Rice, Assitant Dean to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Chancellor Maurice Mitchell as part of a multi-day Vietnam War protest nicknamed "Woodstock West" that took place both on the DU campus and downtown Denver, Colorado. Protesters mourn the killings of four students on the Kent State University campus days earlier.
